Before contacting support

1. Confirm that the Apple device running CasaRay can reach your Home Assistant URL.
2. Verify that the affected entity is available and responds to the same action in Home Assistant.
3. Reopen CasaRay and allow a moment for live state to reconnect.
4. For risky actions such as unlocking or opening a gate, confirm that the approval prompt appears and the entity exposes the expected service.

Helpful details

• CasaRay version and Apple platform version.
• Device model: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac. For CarPlay, include the iPhone model, vehicle or head-unit model, and whether the problem affects voice, manual controls, or both.
• Home Assistant version and connection type: local URL, remote URL, or Home Assistant Cloud.
• For a device or integration problem, include the Home Assistant integration name, device manufacturer and model, entity domain, and whether the same action works in Home Assistant.
• The room, device category, action you expected, and what happened instead.
• A screenshot or short diagnostic excerpt with private details removed.

Assistant support report

After an Assistant problem, open Assistant Settings → Assistant support diagnostics. Prepare a report only after reproducing the issue, then review the file before sharing it. The report separates voice connection, speech detection, transcription, model response, tool resolution, confirmation, Home Assistant execution and reconciliation, and audio playback timings. That makes a long pause or wrong action substantially easier to investigate than a screenshot alone.

The report does not intentionally add recorded audio, image bytes, stored Home Assistant credentials, stored ChatGPT tokens, authorization headers, or full private URLs. It does include exact conversation text and normalized tool arguments, plus model and voice settings and home, room, device, and entity names. Text you spoke or typed and text-control values may therefore contain a password, token, or other secret you mentioned. CasaRay includes only diagnostics recorded for the active ChatGPT account and home; older unscoped records are excluded. Nothing is uploaded automatically. Review and remove sensitive text before sharing.

Assistant availability

CasaRay Assistant is experimental and requires CasaRay Plus plus a separately eligible ChatGPT account. On Apple Watch and CarPlay, Assistant voice uses the paired iPhone runtime and account; neither companion stores a separate ChatGPT credential. OpenAI controls the available models, voices, account limits, workspace permissions, and service availability. If Assistant stops working, check the account and usage status in Assistant Settings on the paired iPhone, reauthorize when requested, and confirm that manual CasaRay control still reaches Home Assistant.

Public web search is a separate experimental Assistant setting. Turn it on only if you want current information beyond the weather and other sources configured in Home Assistant. CasaRay searches with your latest request exactly as received and does not silently add your home location or home state. Open the returned source links when accuracy matters.

Live Activities, background task updates, and widgets

Live state while CasaRay is open comes directly from Home Assistant. Continuing a mower, vacuum, or irrigation activity after CasaRay is closed needs the separate background-delivery route: Home Assistant → the CasaRay relay → Apple Push → this Apple device.

1. On Home, tap the connection dot, then open Background & Widgets → Review & Repair.
2. Allow notifications and finish Notification Delivery. Send the delivery test so CasaRay can show receipt evidence from this device instead of only reporting that setup exists.
3. Finish Background Task Updates and approve the CasaRay-managed automation in Home Assistant. Each CasaRay installation uses its own automation, so one iPhone or iPad does not replace another device's receiver.
4. Check the same health panel for the last task update, Live Activity permission, and latest verified widget snapshot.

If you skipped this during onboarding, open More → Setup Guide or Settings → Setup Guide. Reviewing the guide does not erase your Home Assistant connection or layout.

Widgets are platform-local. The iPhone, iPad, and Mac app each publish and open their own snapshot and route. If one platform reports stale state, open CasaRay on that platform and check its connection dot; a healthy iPhone widget does not prove that the Mac extension is current.

Purchases and refunds

Apple handles CasaRay Plus billing, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and purchase history. Use Restore Purchases in CasaRay if Plus does not appear as active, then contact support if the app still does not recognize it.

Preview Mode

You can explore CasaRay without Home Assistant credentials. Live control requires your own reachable Home Assistant instance.

Requirements

CasaRay requires iOS or iPadOS 17 or later, watchOS 10 or later with a paired iPhone, or macOS 14 or later, plus a reachable Home Assistant instance for live control. CarPlay requires a compatible vehicle or head unit and the paired iPhone; it presents voice and bounded manual controls rather than the full app or camera browsing. Features vary with the capabilities exposed by each device and provider. Assistant additionally depends on CasaRay Plus, an eligible ChatGPT account, and a supported storefront.
